This old world style dining spot has won the Hour Detroit Magazine’s Restaurant of the Year award twice. The menu presents a five-course fixed price dining experience.
For the first course you can select as much from the cold appetizer trolley as you like served table side (the “famous” curried duck salad is truly delicious). The next course is a selection of either the soup, pasta or hot appetizer of the day. The mushroom pasta was my selection, which was also very good. Then came the salad course. The organic greens with strawberries and candied black sesame and yuzu dressing, followed by the refreshing palate cleanser of lemon sorbet.
The main course I selected was the 3-bone portion of the Rack of Lamb Genghis Khan. This is their signature dish which came with a certificate of authenticity with a serial number for my course.
I did have a little room for dessert. On the dessert trolly there is a good selection of cakes, tortes, fresh fruit and the like. I selected the light coconut pineapple cake.
The dining room ambiance, wait staff, crystal, china, and menu all harken back to a traditional jacket-and-tie dining experience. The dining room overlooks a lush garden, which many of the diners walked through and enjoyed following their dinner.
