In the Alexander Hotel, Indianapolis IN
I walked in for a drink and dinner after I checked out the Alexander Hotel’s lobby and art collection. From outside you can see the bar through the floor to ceiling glass walls. The dining room is behind the bar, and is very private, with tall booths in contemporary clean lines and neutral hues. There is a wood slat “Bird’s Nest” enclosure with several tables inside for even more private dining – or just for the experience.
I was alone and sat at the bar where the full menu is available. The bartenders were very knowledgable and provided samples of several of the gin’s which I had not tried before. I selected a Boomsma Genever or “Dutch Gin”. As an appetizer, I selected a recommended dish…Fried Bread with various house preserves and spreads. It was really good ( as you would expect as it is fried bread!). The spreads included pumpkin which was perfect for the season. My entree was the Sablefish with sage pappardelle, hubbard squash, apple and scallion. It was perfect (unlike my photo of it…trust me it was delicious).
